The Shang

As a birthday treat, I decided to check in to the Shangri-La in Mactan overnight. Upon calling, Maui & I discovered there was a promo that started on the 4th, the day after my birthday so we decided to check in then, since the next day was her day off. So off to Shang we went with Grae & Banana in tow. Banana had to go off to pick up Gian in the airport and Grae wanted to take some pictures so they came along and crashed. We had a whole lotta fun, just like the pictures above suggest... :)

My Birthday Dinner!  

Interlude!

After my day out in Maribago, we had dinner at Darras & Bowler where I made libre half of the food. Chelsea, a friend from work sent me a list of restaurants to try in Cebu and this was one of them. Joseph also recommended the resto, which was owned by some of his friends. We ordered an appetizer platter which cost double what we expected and various sandwiches plus Maui and I had a Cabernet Shiraz and a Cabernet Merlot respectively. We were joined by JR, JP, Grae & Banana. We had a fun dinner before Maui & I headed home and the rest of them went off to work. The next pictures are from my birthday.

Banana at Maribago

This is the beach beyond the lagoon, "The Beach That Never Was" aka The Reason We Ended Up At The Pool  

This is the fake beach. Actually it is a lagoon where you can jetski. Beyond that you can see the beach, then a low wall then a whole lotta rocks where you can fall and break something. In short, there is no actual beach. Just a wall. 

Maribago also has a giant chess board. Unfortunately we couldn't find the chess pieces when we were there so Grae & I tried them out instead, complete with Muay Thai poses since Grae really does kickbox in real life. 

Each of the rooms in Maribago has one of these things in front of it. I think it's Thai inspired, and is essentially a jug with flower petals with a matching sandok-esque contraption.  

Here is the shark pool at Maribago. The perfect place to throw evil boyfriends or, in Maui's opinion, Lance.
